Senior Team India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has issued a statement to clear the air regarding recent media reports. He emphasized that reports suggesting he made disparaging remarks about former cricketer Amit Mishra in relation to Virat Kohli are false. Shami urged the media to ensure accuracy by verifying sources before disseminating misinformation.
During an appearance on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube show ‘Unplugged’, Shami openly discussed various aspects of his personal and professional life. He highlighted the close bonds he shares with former India captain Virat Kohli and fellow pacer Ishant Sharma, emphasizing their support during his recovery from injury.
Some reports claimed that Shami indirectly criticized Mishra for his remarks about Virat Kohli on the same show. Mishra had stated that “fame and power” had altered Kohli, and Shamiβs comments were seen as a response. Shami was quoted as saying that former cricketers often speak against Kohli for publicity.
“Many former cricketers know that whenever they say something against Virat, their name will appear on the front page of the newspapers the next day, so they do it deliberately,” the reports quoted the pacer as saying.
