Former India captain MS Dhoni has named his current favorite bowler, selecting none other than his former India teammate Jasprit Bumrah. Despite retiring from international and domestic cricket, Dhoni remains an active participant in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he captains the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Playing alongside talented pacers like Matheesha Pathirana, Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, and Mustafizur Rahman in CSK, Dhoni continues to face formidable bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Starc, Kagiso Rabada, Lockie Ferguson, and Trent Boult. During a recent event, Dhoni expressed his admiration for Bumrah, citing him as his favored bowler without hesitation, describing the selection as an easy decision.

Dhoni’s endorsement comes shortly after Bumrah played a pivotal role in India’s recent T20 World Cup triumph. The right-arm paceman’s exceptional performance helped secure India’s second T20 World Cup title, the first since Dhoni led the team to victory in the inaugural edition in 2007.
Bumrah emerged as the tournament’s standout bowler, finishing as the third-highest wicket-taker with 15 dismissals in 8 matches, all while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.17. His outstanding contributions earned him the Player of the Tournament award. Fans can expect to see him in action next month as India prepares to host Bangladesh for a Test series.
MS Dhoni set to play IPL 2025:
Regarding MS Dhoni, the iconic wicketkeeper is expected to make his comeback to the field in IPL 2025. Earlier this year, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan expressed optimism about Dhoni’s potential return to the IPL next season.
“I do not know. It is a question which only MS can answer. The question for us, we have always respected the decisions taken by MS. We have left it to him,” Viswanathan had said on CSK’s YouTube channel.
“As all of you know, he has always taken his decisions and announced them at the appropriate time. We do expect that we will get a decision as and when he decides.
“But we are very, very hopeful that he will be available for CSK the next year. That is the view and expectations of the fans and mine,” he had added.
