The Ambanis recently paid tribute to the Mumbai Indians players who were part of India’s triumphant T20 World Cup squad. India clinched the title by defeating South Africa in the final, marking their first T20 World Cup victory in 17 years and ending an 11-year drought for an ICC trophy.
Following their return from Barbados, where they secured the win, Team India met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi and were honored with a victory parade in Mumbai, receiving an enthusiastic welcome from thousands of fans. The celebrations extended to their hometowns as well.
During the sangeet ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant on Friday, the Ambanis chose to recognize key players like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya. Nita Ambani invited each player onto the stage individually, where emotions ran high, particularly when she embraced Rohit Sharma, visibly moved and struggling to contain her tears.
“No shouting is good enough, no screaming, no cheering is enough,” she said before calling the other two players as well.
For Pandya, Mrs. Ambani said: “There is one teenager we discovered. The person who made everyone lose their breath in the last over. He proves one thing: Tough times don’t last, tough people do.”

Earlier this year during the IPL season, the Ambanis encountered criticism when they opted to replace Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as the captain of Mumbai Indians. Pandya, in turn, faced a challenging phase during the tournament as he endured booing from fans.
Nevertheless, the talented Indian cricketer has successfully won back the hearts of supporters with his outstanding performance in the World Cup. Looking ahead, he aims to carry this momentum into the upcoming IPL season, aspiring to deliver another stellar showing for his team.
