Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly emphasized the pivotal role Rishabh Pant will play in India’s campaign at the T20 World Cup 2024, citing him as a unique talent set to make a significant impact in the tournament.
Pant is poised to rejoin the Indian Cricket Team after a hiatus of 16 months, during which he endured a tragic setback that sidelined him from numerous matches, including the ICC World Cup 2023 and the ICC World Test Championship Final.
Following his absence from cricketing action for nearly a year, Pant made a triumphant return in IPL 2024, showcasing remarkable performances that earned him a spot in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup.
Given Pant’s track record of delivering in high-pressure situations for India, his role in the team is deemed indispensable. His adeptness at handling pressure in crucial matches distinguishes him from his peers, rendering him a vital asset for India’s aspirations in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Anticipated to assume the mantle of the primary wicketkeeper in the Indian lineup for the T20 World Cup, Pant aims to replicate his IPL form and contribute significantly to India’s quest to clinch the title and break the ICC trophy drought since their triumph in 2013.
Ganguly lauded Pant as an extraordinary talent, underscoring his ability to discern angles on the field as a distinguishing factor. He affirmed Pant’s pivotal role for India in the upcoming World Cup, expressing his views during an interview with RevSportz.
“He is a very special talent. His keeping is good, but his batting really special. He is capable of picking some great angles in the ground, and that’s his USP. Not every player will be able to do that, you see. And that’s what makes Pant very important for India.”

“He has worked very very hard to make this comeback, and is hungry to do well. I am confident he will make a telling difference”.
Rishabh Pant showcased outstanding form with the bat during the Indian Premier League, spearheading the Delhi Capitals’ campaign with aplomb. Accumulating 446 runs at a striking rate of 155.4 and an impressive average of 40.55, he emerged as the top scorer for his team. Not only did he excel with the bat, but he also exhibited remarkable skills behind the stumps, further enhancing his contribution to the team’s success.
