With the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) set to overlap with the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025), the PSL’s viewership is expected to suffer significantly.
Although the PSL is among the most popular T20 leagues globally, it still trails the IPL by a considerable margin in terms of popularity, commercial reach, and overall impact.
Clash Between IPL and PSL
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is widely regarded as the premier T20 league in the world, and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) risks being negatively affected due to scheduling conflicts. Traditionally held in the February-March window, the PSL had to be rescheduled this year as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hosted the ICC Champions Trophy during that period.
Additionally, holding the PSL in its usual window would have meant competing with other leagues like the SA20, ILT20, and BPL for top players, further influencing the PCB’s decision to shift the tournament’s dates.
While only time will reveal how things play out for the PSL this year, Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali remains confident that the tournament’s viewership will not be negatively affected.

The PSL is clashing with the IPL, but this was the only window where we could organise it. Viewership goes where there is performance and entertainment. So if we perform well, the viewership will shift from the IPL to the PSL – Hasan Ali.
