Jasprit Bumrah played a significant role in ending India’s 11-year wait for an ICC trophy this year. The 30-year-old fast bowler featured in all eight matches of the T20 World Cup 2024, capturing 15 wickets. His outstanding performance with the ball earned him the Player of the Series award.
Following India’s victory over South Africa by seven runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados on June 29, Bumrah returned to India and visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi on Thursday morning, July 4. Accompanied by his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, and their 10-month-old son, Angad, Bumrah joined other Indian players for an hour-long meeting with PM Modi.
After the meeting, Bumrah shared three photos on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude to PM Modi for his warm hospitality. One of the photos, capturing PM Modi holding Angad, quickly went viral on the internet.
Sanjana also shared the adorable moment on her Instagram with the caption, “such an incredibly special morning.”
Angad, Jasprit Bumrah’s first child, was born on September 4, 2023. During that time, Bumrah was representing India in the Asia Cup, but he opted to miss the India-Nepal match to be by his wife’s side for the birth of their son.
Following their meeting with PM Modi in Delhi, the Indian players have departed for Mumbai, where they will participate in a victory parade along Marine Drive on Thursday evening. The celebratory event, spanning two hours from 5 p.m., will culminate at Wankhede Stadium. Additionally, the BCCI has arranged a prize distribution ceremony at the historic stadium in Mumbai, where BCCI secretary Jay Shah will award Rs 125 crore to the Indian players and support staff members.
