Rahul Dravid, the former head coach of the Indian Cricket team, was seen attending the Indian Hockey teamβs match at the Olympics 2024. The event took place on Monday at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium 1 in Paris, France.
The national hockey team, captained by Harmanpreet Singh, faced a challenging contest against Argentina, with both teams ultimately settling for a 1-1 draw in their Group B match.
Previously, Dravid had engaged in a conversation with Jason Kelce, the former American football center for the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL.
After their interaction, he also left a special message for the national hockey team, signing the wall with “Chak de India.”
The Indian hockey team faced a challenging match against Argentina, with the opposition taking the lead in the 22nd minute thanks to a goal from forward Lucas Martinez.
However, Harmanpreet Singh, ever dependable, secured an equalizer for India with a penalty corner, ensuring the match ended in a 1-1 draw in the Pool B fixture.
Currently, India sits third in their group with four points, earned from today’s draw and a previous win against New Zealand. Their upcoming matches are against Ireland, Belgium, and Australia, scheduled for July 30, August 1, and August 2, respectively.
The Indian team will be optimistic that Dravidβs presence in the stands will inspire them to perform well in their remaining matches and potentially secure a medal, bringing pride to the nation.
As one of the most successful teams in Olympic hockey history, the Indian Menβs team aims to add another gold medal to their illustrious record. They also hope to cap off the legendary career of their star goalkeeper, P. Sreejesh, on a high note.
