Jasprit Bumrah emerged as the standout performer of the T20 World Cup 2024, claiming the prestigious “Player of the Tournament” title. His stellar performance saw him clinch 15 crucial wickets, securing the third-highest tally in the competition.
Throughout the tournament, Bumrah showcased his bowling prowess, consistently delivering impactful performances with the ball. In the thrilling final against South Africa, he set the tone early by dismissing Reeza Hendricks. Later in the match, Bumrah returned to further dent South Africa’s hopes by removing Marco Jansen in the crucial 18th over.
Former PCB chief Ramiz Raja, who closely observed Bumrah’s exceptional displays during the T20 World Cup, hailed him as a legendary figure across all three formats of the game.
“In my book, Jasprit Bumrah is a legend in all three formats. There is no one greater who has played all three formats. (Toh aap dekh rahe hai, ek ladka kaha se utha hai, usme confidence nahi tha, uska awkward bowling action hain) So you can see, where this boy came from, he lacked confidence, had an awkward bowling action. He was unfit, but he came back, and now he has made India win the World Cup,” Ramiz Raja said on his YouTube channel.
Bumrah’s dazzling display in the T20 World Cup 2024 has garnered widespread acclaim, highlighted by his exceptional feat of claiming 15 wickets across eight matches, all while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.17. His knack for delivering under pressure proved to be his greatest asset throughout the tournament.
Former PCB Chairman also lauded Bumrah for his remarkable resurgence from injury setbacks. Having missed both the 2022 Asia Cup and T20 World Cup 2022 due to injury, he staged a triumphant comeback during the ODI World Cup 2023. Moreover, Bumrah’s ability to dispel retirement speculations further underscores his commitment to the sport and his enduring passion for cricket.
T20I Retirement Is A Long Way Away: Jasprit Bumrah
“It’s (my retirement) a long way away. I have just started. Hopefully, it is far away now” said Bumrah.
