Rilee Rossouw has made a bold and amusing prediction for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Punjab Kings recently shared a video featuring their players and coaches forecasting the tournament’s highest run-scorers and wicket-takers.
The eagerly anticipated event is set to commence on Sunday (June 2), with the United States and the Caribbean co-hosting the tournament. A record-breaking 20 teams are participating, divided into four groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super 8s stage.
The tournament kicks off with a match between co-hosts USA and Canada in Dallas. Ahead of the competition, PBKS players and coaches shared their predictions for the players who could excel as the leading run-scorers and wicket-takers.
Harshal Patel, who topped the wicket-taking charts in IPL 2024, selected Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli as the potential leading wicket-taker and run-scorer respectively. Jitesh Sharma, who captained the team in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan and Sam Curran, chose Suryakumar Yadav and his IPL teammate Arshdeep Singh.
Then came Rilee Rossouw with his humorous prediction. The South African star comically named Bumrah as the highest run-scorer and his compatriot Heinrich Klaasen as the top wicket-taker, leaving Jitesh in stitches.

Reflecting on PBKS’ performance in IPL 2024, the team faced yet another challenging season and failed to advance past the league stage once more. Since their appearance in the final in 2014, PBKS has been unable to secure a playoff berth.
Throughout the recently concluded season, PBKS grappled with inconsistency and never appeared to be in contention for a top-four finish. Ultimately, they concluded the season in the ninth position, managing just 5 wins from 14 games.
