India clinched the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup last month with a thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in the final at Kensington Oval, Barbados on June 29. This win marked India’s first ICC trophy in 11 years. Following the triumph, the BCCI announced a prize money of Rs 125 crore for the Indian team, which was handed over to captain Rohit Sharma during a celebration at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on July 4.
According to a report in the Indian Express published on July 8, each member of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup squad, including head coach Rahul Dravid, will receive Rs 5 crore. Despite 12 players featuring in the tournament’s eight matches, all 15 squad members will be awarded Rs 5 crore each.
Additionally, other members of the coaching staff such as batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, and fielding coach T Dilip will receive Rs 2.5 crore each. Members of the selection committee, including chief selector Ajit Agarkar, will be granted Rs 1 crore each.
Four reserve players—Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, and Rinku Singh—who were part of the squad for the USA and West Indies tours will also receive Rs 1 crore each.
Furthermore, the support staff comprising three physiotherapists, three throwdown specialists, two masseurs, and the strength and conditioning coach will receive Rs 2 crore each.
The Indian contingent for the 2024 T20 World Cup comprised 42 individuals, which included Team India’s video analyst, BCCI staff members accompanying the team such as media officers, and the logistics manager—all of whom will also receive recognition and rewards.
“Players and support staff have been informed about the amount of prize money they will be receiving from the BCCI, and we have asked everyone to submit an invoice,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
