After a string of disappointing performances in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, where he failed to shine in any of the three Tests he played, Star India skipper Rohit Sharma opted to play in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, stepping up to represent Mumbai in an effort to regain his form.
Rohit Sharma could only manage 3 runs off 19 deliveries in his innings.
Rohit Sharma opened the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal today as Mumbai took on Jammu & Kashmir at the BKC Ground in Mumbai. However, the Indian skipper’s rough patch continued, as he faced 19 balls for just three runs before being dismissed. His inability to get a big score only added to the growing concerns around his form, especially with the Champions Trophy 2025 on the horizon.
Yashasvi Jaiswal also failed to make an impact, departing for just four runs after facing eight balls. As a result, Mumbai’s start to the match against J&K was less than ideal, with both openers struggling to get going. Fans and pundits alike are beginning to worry about Rohit’s form as the Indian team prepares for the upcoming global tournament.

In the clash between Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir, Mumbai batted first and, despite an early collapse, J&K put in an impressive performance. After Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s failures at the top, the middle order also struggled.
Hardik Tamore managed only seven runs, while Ajinkya Rahane fell for just 12. Shreyas Iyer could only add 11 runs, and Shivam Dube was dismissed for a duck. By the 20th over, Mumbai was reeling at just 71 runs for the loss of seven wickets. With the lower order still at the crease, Mumbai’s tailenders will need to step up and try to salvage a respectable total for the team.
