Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary figure in Indian cricket, shared his immense joy and pride following India’s victory over South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados. Tendulkar highlighted that the win not only added a fourth star to the Indian jersey but also solidified India’s reputation as a cricketing powerhouse worldwide. He expressed his belief that this triumph would serve as inspiration for aspiring players to pursue their dreams.
Reflecting on the journey, Tendulkar noted the special significance of the victory for Rahul Dravid, mentioning how Dravid’s strategic brilliance and mentorship played a pivotal role in India’s successful campaign. He emphasized that Dravid truly deserved to lift the World Cup after experiencing the heartbreak of the 2007 ODI World Cup and missing out on the 2011 triumph as a player.
In his tribute on social media platform X, Tendulkar wrote, “Every star added to the Team India jersey inspires our nation’s starry-eyed children to move one step closer to their dreams. India gets the 4th star, our second in @T20WorldCup. Life comes full circle for Indian cricket in the West Indies.”
Tendulkar also praised Rohit Sharma for his exceptional leadership throughout the tournament, highlighting how Rohit rallied the team following their disappointment in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He credited Rohit’s leadership, resilience, and ability to unify the team as instrumental in India’s journey to becoming champions of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Acknowledging the contributions of key players, Tendulkar singled out Jasprit Bumrah for his stellar performances, describing him as the cornerstone of India’s success in the tournament. He also commended Virat Kohli for his crucial batting contributions in the final match, underscoring his impact when the team needed it most.
Overall, Tendulkar’s tribute encapsulated the pride and excitement felt across India and the cricketing world following the historic T20 World Cup victory in 2024.
He noted, “What can one say about @ImRo45? Superb captaincy! To put the 2023 ODI World Cup loss behind and to keep all our players motivated towards the T20 World Cup is commendable. @Jaspritbumrah93’s Player of the Tournament award as well as @imVkohli’s Player of the Match award are both well-deserved. They were just superb when it mattered.”
Sachin Tendulkar lauded Team India’s coaching staff, emphasizing their pivotal role in the team’s success. He specifically praised bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and batting coach Vikram Rathour, noting their extensive experience and deep knowledge of the game. Both coaches, who started their international careers alongside Tendulkar in 1996, played a crucial role in fostering a culture of excellence and unity within the team. Tendulkar credited their guidance and strategic input as integral to India’s collective effort and achievement in the T20 World Cup 2024.
He signed off by saying, “Along with Rahul, Paras Mhambrey and Vikram Rathour also made their international debuts in 1996. It was wonderful to see Team India excel under the guidance of this class of ’96. A total team effort. Hearty congratulations to all the players, coaches, support staff, and @BCCI.”
