Samit Dravid, son of the legendary former India head coach Rahul Dravid, has received his first call-up to the Indian Under-19 team for the multi-format series against Australia Under-19.
On Saturday, August 31, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the squad for the upcoming multi-format series between India Under-19 and Australia Under-19. Among the selected players is Samit Dravid, son of the iconic former India cricketer and ex-head coach Rahul Dravid, who has been included in both the red-ball and white-ball teams.
Samit, an 18-year-old right-handed batter, recently participated in the Maharaja T20 Trophy with the Mysuru Warriors. However, his performance in the league was modest, accumulating just 82 runs across seven innings at an average of 11.71 and a strike rate of 113.88.
Samit Dravid’s top score in the Maharaja T20 Trophy was 33 off 24 balls against the Gulbarga Mystics, including four boundaries and a six. In addition to Dravid’s selection, Uttar Pradesh’s Mohamed Amaan has been appointed captain of the One-Day squad for the series, while Soham Patwardhan will lead the team in the four-day matches.
The India U-19 team will face off against Australia U-19 in a series of three 50-over matches on September 21, 23, and 26 in Puducherry. This will be followed by two four-day games in Chennai, starting on September 30.
