Gautam Gambhir, the mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2024 winning team, expressed his belief that franchise owner Shah Rukh Khan can never achieve success. Gambhir’s comments came just days after securing his first Indian Premier League title as part of the coaching staff. Previously, he had won the IPL title twice as the captain of the Knight Riders, but this latest victory was especially significant. It marked Gambhir and Kolkata’s first league title in 10 years and came in his first season back with the team.
In the previous two seasons, Gambhir’s teams were eliminated in the play-off stages. He mentored the Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 and 2023, but they never reached the finals. However, Gambhir capitalized on the Indian core unit established by Abhishek Nayar and Chandrakant Pandit to achieve success this season.
Why did Gautam Gambhir say Shah Rukh Khan can never become successful?
In a recent exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Gautam Gambhir pointed out the one area where Shah Rukh Khan has never and will never find success. Despite being one of the biggest actors in the country and perhaps the richest and most famous among current Bollywood stars, Shah Rukh Khan has a limitation.
While the entire country dances to the songs in Shah Rukh Khan’s movies, the King of Bollywood himself couldn’t achieve one thing: making Gautam Gambhir dance. During his post-final speech in the KKR dressing room, Shah Rukh had declared that he would get Gambhir to dance at the after-party celebrating the franchise’s third league title win.
However, even then, Gambhir was seen smiling and refusing. In his interview with Sportskeeda, he stated that Shah Rukh Khan was unsuccessful in this regard. The two-time IPL-winning captain acknowledged that Shah Rukh has achieved immense success and will continue to do so in the future.
But when it comes to making Gambhir dance, the multiple award-winning actor cannot succeed. Gambhir admitted he can never dance or sing because he is not a dancer or singer; he is a serial winner. This is the one area where Gautam Gambhir believes Shah Rukh Khan will always fall short.
“Shah Rukh bhai has been very successful in his life and career and he will remain successful but if there’s anything where he has remained unsuccessful, then it will be to make me dance. And in the future also I think he will always remain unsuccessful in this area because I can never dance or sing.” – Gambhir told Sportskeeda.
