In the latest ICC T20I rankings released on Tuesday, India’s Smriti Mandhana ascended to fourth place among batters, bolstered by her impactful performance, including a crucial 60-run contribution in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka. Her current rating stands at 743 points.
Additionally, seamer Renuka Singh Thakur secured the fifth position among bowlers in the rankings.
In the latest ICC T20I rankings update, Renuka Singh Thakur’s impressive performance, which saw her claim seven wickets in the tournament, has propelled her up four places to fifth position with 722 rating points among bowlers. She now follows England’s Sophie Ecclestone (772) and Sarah Glenn (760) in the first two spots, Deepti Sharma (755) in third, and Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal (743) in fourth place.
Meanwhile, Radha Yadav, who took six wickets and was among the top five wicket-takers in the Asia Cup, has climbed seven places to reach 13th position.
In the batting rankings, Australia’s Beth Mooney (769) and Tahlia McGrath (762) retain their positions as the top two batters, with West Indies’ Hayley Matthews (746) in third place, and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt at sixth.
Showing significant progress in the latest ICC T20I rankings is Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Athapaththu, who advanced three spots to claim sixth position with 705 points. Her ascent comes on the heels of a decisive innings, where she scored 61 runs in the Asia Cup final against India, playing a pivotal role in her team’s victory.
“Inspirational Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu also reached new heights as she moved up three places to sixth on the same list to bring up a career-best rating following her Player of the Tournament heroics at the Asia Cup that included a whopping 304 runs at an average north of 100,” the ICC said on its website.
Following the culmination of the Asia Cup, there were notable movements in the ICC T20I rankings for batters. Pakistan’s Muneeba Ali surged six places to 35th position, while Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana climbed three spots to 14th.
Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Samarawickrama made a significant leap to 20th place after her standout performance in the final, where she scored an unbeaten 69 runs, showcasing her batting prowess on the international stage.
