South Africa announced their team on Monday, July 1, for the upcoming three-game T20I series against India. The matches are scheduled from July 5 to 9 and will all be held at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The South African squad sees the inclusion of Chloe Tryon, who returns after recovering from a back injury that kept her out for several months. Tryon has already joined the team in India and participated in a practice session in Chennai.
Delmi Tucker and Nondumiso Shangase, who were part of the squad for the Test match and ODIs, have been omitted from the T20I lineup. Additionally, wicketkeeper Mieke de Ridder, who featured in two ODIs against India last month, has been included in the T20I squad.
“We’re excited with the 15-player squad that has been selected for the T20I series. We also have Chloe back in the team after recovering from an injury. She brings a lot of experience to the team and we can’t wait to see her back on the field,” said South Africa Women’s Interim Head Coach Dillon du Preez.
“We have our last three T20I matches against India. This will give us some time to look at one or two options before we go home and start our final preparation for the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh,” added du Preez.
South Africa is determined to secure a series victory in the upcoming T20I series following their losses in the ODIs and the solitary Test match. The team has been unable to register a win so far on this tour and is eager to change their fortunes in the upcoming series. India dominated the ODIs with a 3-0 series win and followed up with a comprehensive 10-wicket victory in the Test match.
