On Wednesday, Sri Lanka secured a commanding 110-run victory over India at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, clinching the three-match series 2-0.
Sri Lanka set a target of 249 runs, finishing their innings at 248/7. They then dismissed India for a mere 138 runs in just 26.1 overs. Avishka Fernando led the batting with a stellar 96 runs, while Dunith Wellalage shone with the ball, taking five wickets and playing a pivotal role in the win.
Sri Lanka won the toss, and captain Charith Asalanka chose to bat first. Openers Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando established a solid 86-run partnership before Nissanka was dismissed by Axar Patel.
Fernando then teamed up with Kusal Mendis for an additional 85 runs until Fernando was out just four runs short of a century, with debutant Riyan Parag claiming the wicket.
Asalanka was dismissed cheaply for 10 by Parag, and Sadeera Samarawickrama followed with a golden duck, falling to Mohammad Siraj. Janith Liyanage was also dismissed by Washington Sundar for 8 runs. Parag completed his three-wicket haul by removing Dunith Wellalage. Kusal Mendis, however, guided the team past the 200-run mark with an impressive half-century.
Sri Lanka concluded their innings with a total of 248 runs, with Kamindu Mendis and Maheesh Theekshana remaining not out at 23 and 3 runs, respectively.
