Fans took to Twitter to react after the Indian cricket team secured a convincing 43-run victory over Sri Lanka in the first match of their three-match T20I series. The match was held at the Pallekele International Stadium on Saturday.
India started their innings strongly with Yashasvi Jaiswal (40) and Shubman Gill (34), who put together a 74-run opening partnership, setting a solid foundation. Captain Suryakumar Yadav (58) then played a superb innings, further strengthening India’s position. Rishabh Pant (49) contributed significantly, adding 76 runs for the third wicket with Yadav. With these contributions, India set a total of 213 for seven.
For Sri Lanka, Matheesha Pathirana was the standout bowler with figures of four for 40. Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka (79) and Kusal Mendis (45) initially put India under pressure with an 84-run opening stand. Kusal Perera (20) also played a key role.
Despite being in a strong position at 140 for two, Sri Lanka faltered as Indian bowlers made a remarkable comeback. They dismissed Sri Lanka for 170, winning the game by 43 runs. Riyan Parag was instrumental with the ball, claiming three crucial wickets in the death overs. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel each took two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Ravi Bishnoi picked up one wicket each, sealing the win in the 20th over.
