Whatever happens, happens for good: Rinku Singh on his T20 World Cup 2024 Selection
The southpaw batsman confessed to feeling initial disappointment over the snub but ultimately came to terms with it. He recognized the influence of team dynamics on the national selection committee’s decision and emphasized the importance of not fixating on factors beyond his control.
The 26-year-old additionally shared that Rohit Sharma provided him with encouragement, urging him to view the setback as a temporary challenge. Rohit reminded him that future opportunities awaited, including the chance to represent the country in upcoming World Cups. He advised Rinku to maintain his dedication and continue working diligently.
Rinku Singh was quoted as saying by Dainik Jagran: “Yes, anyone feels a little bad if he is not selected despite good performance. However, this time I could not get selected due to the team combination. It is okay, one should not think too much about things that are not in one’s hands. Yes, I was a little upset in the beginning. Whatever happened is fine. Whatever happens, happens for good.”
Rinku Singh praises Rohit Sharma’s leadership skills and shares the sentiments he conveyed to him.
Rinku said: “Rohit Bhaiya did not say anything special. He only said that just keep working hard. There is a World Cup again after two years. There is no need to worry too much. This is what he said to me.”
The victor of IPL 2024 further commended Rohit Sharma and his captaincy, emphasizing his supportive attitude towards young players in the Indian cricket squad. He consistently motivates them to persevere and excel through hard work.
Rinku signed off by saying, “The whole world has seen how good his captaincy is. If I talk about myself personally, I have done only one tour with him so far. I have not even talked to him much. He supports the youth a lot. He only wants the youth to do well and he always says that play, do well.”
Despite notable struggles with the bat during the recent IPL 2024 season, Rinku’s performance fell short, amassing just 168 runs at a subpar average of 18 and a strike rate of 148. However, he aims to redeem himself as he prepares to represent India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean. Their journey begins with a match against Ireland on June 5 in New York.
