In preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024, a contingent of Indian cricketers, including prominent figures like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will depart for New York on Saturday. They will first travel to Dubai before continuing their journey to New York.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are part of the initial group of Indian cricketers set to depart for the T20 World Cup 2024. According to Sports Tak, on Saturday, May 25, these players will board a flight from Mumbai to Dubai at 10 PM before continuing their journey to New York. Joining them on this trip are other notable names like Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal will depart in the second wave of Indian cricketers. Their IPL 2024 journey recently concluded after RR’s loss to SRH by 36 runs in Qualifier 2 on Friday, May 24, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Of the four players, Avesh isn’t part of the main squad but is included in the reserves, along with Khaleel Ahmed, Rinku Singh, and Shubman Gill. While Khaleel and Shubman’s IPL campaigns ended after DC and GT were eliminated before the playoffs, Rinku will participate in the final match on May 26 between KKR and SRH at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
What is Hardik Pandya’s current whereabouts?
Following Mumbai Indians’ exit from the IPL playoffs, Hardik Pandya, India’s T20 World Cup vice-captain, traveled to London for training. While there’s speculation that he might join the national team from there, no official confirmation has been provided regarding his destination, whether it be Dubai or New York.
Upon arriving in New York, the Indian team will have a couple of days to acclimatize before their warm-up match against Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, on Saturday, June 1 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
India’s first official match in the World Cup is scheduled against Ireland, captained by Paul Stirling, in a Group A encounter on Wednesday, June 5, in New York.
