The Indian Cricket Team has commenced training for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, with a significant portion of the squad currently stationed in New York, gearing up for another chance at securing victory.
In New York, the squad has begun their training regimen in preparation for the prestigious T20 tournament. Soham Desai, the team’s Strength and Conditioning coach, outlined the training plans.
Desai emphasized the importance of swiftly adapting to the time-zone change and kick-started the training with a team activity aimed at facilitating this adjustment.
The players are thrilled about the prospect of competing in the USA and are relishing the favorable weather conditions in the Americas.
Desai further explained the focus on getting the players moving, indicating the necessity for active engagement. This approach allows the management to assess each player’s readiness and tailor their preparation accordingly for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The Indian squad welcomes back all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who returns to the national team after recovering from an injury sustained during the ODI World Cup last year. Appointed as the vice-captain, Pandya’s role will be pivotal in India’s campaign in the T20 World Cup.
The Indian team aims to replicate their style of cricket from the 50-over tournament, where they displayed dominance throughout but ultimately fell short against Australia in the final stages.
Rohit Sharma will be eager to rediscover his batting form, considering his below-par performance in the IPL 2024 tournament. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal will also be striving to regain his consistency, particularly as the opening pair remains a significant area of concern.
India is set to kick off their campaign with a group-stage clash against Ireland on June 5th at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
