The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled its commentary team for the upcoming two-match Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, commencing on August 21. The lineup includes five seasoned commentators and one presenter, blending established voices with fresh perspectives.
This series marks the beginning of Pakistan’s home season and is a crucial part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. Both teams are eager to claim victory to enhance their prospects of making it to the WTC final next year.
Pakistan will be led by Shan Masood, while Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain Bangladesh. Historically, Bangladesh has yet to secure a Test win against Pakistan in their 13 previous encounters. Pakistan, coming off a 0-3 defeat to Australia, will be looking to bounce back in the World Test Championship.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has unveiled the commentary panel for the Bangladesh Tests.
In an official announcement, the PCB has revealed the commentary team for the forthcoming Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The team will feature commentators Aamir Sohail, Athar Ali Khan, Bazid Khan, Nick Compton, and Urooj Mumtaz, with Sikander Bakht stepping in as the series presenter.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board also confirmed a panel of five commentators and one presenter for the Pakistan versus Bangladesh Test series taking place in Rawalpindi and Karachi. The first Test will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from 21 to 25 August, while the second Test match will be played at the National Bank Stadium from 30 August to 3 September,” the PCB said in a presser.
“Aamir Sohail, Athar Ali Khan, Bazid Khan, Nick Compton, and Urooj Mumtaz will be on the commentary panel, while Sikander Bakht will be the presenter.”
Athar Ali Khan is the sole Bangladeshi commentator on the panel, while former England cricketer Nick Compton will provide a neutral viewpoint during the upcoming Test series.
Pakistan is ranked fifth in the ICC World Test Championship points table.
The Bangladesh squad arrived in Lahore earlier this week under tight security for their series in Pakistan. Currently eighth in the World Test Championship standings with one win from three matches, Bangladesh will next travel to India and the West Indies for five Tests after this tour.
India and Australia are leading the World Test Championship rankings, while Pakistan is in fifth place with a point percentage of 36.66%. Having lost three of their five Tests in the 2023-25 cycle, Pakistan has recalled Naseem Shah, who last played in July 2023 in Sri Lanka.
The Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh begins on August 21 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with the second Test scheduled for August 30 at National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
