The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is scheduled to overlap with the Indian Premier League (IPL) next season. Due to a congested international calendar, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has had to adjust the timing of its T20 league.
The PSL is now expected to take place from April 10 to May 25 next year.
The previous IPL season took place from March 22 to May 26 this year.
Typically, the PSL occurs in February and March, but due to Pakistan hosting a tri-series, the Champions Trophy, and a West Indies tour next year, the schedule has been adjusted.
The Pakistan cricket team’s home and away fixtures will continue from this month through April 2025.
Additionally, the PCB has announced a major change in the domestic players’ monthly retainers. Players selected for five elite teams in the newly introduced Champions tournaments will see revised compensation structures.
A total of 150 players across five teams will see their salaries increased according to new tiers.
In Category 1, 40 players will earn PKR 550,000 per month. Category 2 will see 50 players receiving PKR 400,000 monthly, while Category 3 players, numbering 60, will get PKR 250,000 each month.
This new salary structure represents a significant boost compared to the 2023-24 season, where domestic contracts ranged from PKR 50,000 to PKR 300,000 based on the category.
Players will also see an increase in match fees, with PKR 200,000 allocated for red-ball cricket, PKR 125,000 for 50-over games, and PKR 100,000 for T20 matches.
This represents a notable increase from last season’s match fees, which were PKR 80,000 for red-ball cricket and PKR 40,000 for white-ball formats.
