Team India was warmly greeted upon their return to the country with the prestigious T20 World Cup trophy. After landing at Delhi airport early on July 4, they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence before heading to Mumbai. Later that evening, they participated in a celebratory parade along Marine Drive.
The BCCI organized a felicitation ceremony at Wankhede Stadium, where a large crowd gathered to honor the T20 World Cup champions. After the event concluded, India captain Rohit Sharma returned home to a delightful surprise.
At his doorstep, Rohit was greeted by his childhood friends, all wearing custom t-shirts featuring Rohit’s photo with the T20 World Cup trophy.
Upon stepping out of his car, Rohit Sharma’s friends saluted him and mimicked his trophy-lifting gesture in a playful tribute. They rushed towards him and joyfully hoisted him onto their shoulders, adorning him with a garland of honor.
Among them was young Indian batsman Tilak Varma, who joined in the celebratory atmosphere with enthusiasm.

Rohit concluded the victorious T20 World Cup campaign as the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer. Following the final in Barbados, he announced his retirement from T20Is.
