Australian cricket sensation David Warner expresses his delight at witnessing his Delhi Capitals teammate, Rishabh Pant, return to the cricketing arena after a challenging period of recuperation from injuries incurred in a severe car accident back in December 2022. Pant’s absence during IPL 2023, due to the injuries sustained, saw Warner stepping up to lead the Delhi Capitals. Pant’s triumphant comeback to the team marked a significant moment, showcasing his resilience and commitment. Despite Pant’s commendable performance with the bat, the Delhi Capitals fell short of securing a playoff spot, concluding their season in sixth place on the points table with seven victories out of 14 league matches.
Warner took to social media to bid farewell to IPL and Indian cricket enthusiasts. Through an Instagram post, the Australian batting stalwart extended his congratulations to the Kolkata Knight Riders for clinching their third title. Additionally, he expressed gratitude towards the loyal Delhi Capitals supporters, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout the season’s journey.
“Now the IPL has finished I will post a thank you. Congrats to Kolkata Knight Riders for winning this year. Very well deserved and were very consistent. To our fans, thank you for always cheering us on and supporting us. Wasn’t our year this year but we gave it our all. Some outstanding performances from our young guys and how good was it to see,” Warner wrote.
Before concluding, Warner emphasized Pant’s commitment, praising the wicketkeeper-batsman for accumulating 446 runs in 13 matches of this IPL, which includes three half-centuries.
“It was also great to see Rishabh Pant back playing again after his accident. To witness the comeback first-hand and how committed he was to playing was simply fantastic,” Warner wrote.
Warner struggled to find his form with the bat throughout IPL 2024.
After a string of underwhelming performances, the Australian was omitted from DC’s starting lineup, with young talent Jake Frasher-McGurk stepping in.
Warner could only amass 168 runs from eight matches this IPL, with a strike rate of 134.
Meanwhile, Pant has flown to the USA to don the Indian cricket team jersey for the T20 World Cup.
