Corey Anderson has been omitted from the squad following inconsistent performances with the bat during the T20 World Cup 2024.
The USA aims to build on their landmark T20 World Cup 2024 campaign as they prepare for a white-ball tour to the Netherlands. In June, the USA made their debut at the T20 World Cup, where they notably defeated Pakistan on their way to the Super Eight stage.
Saurabh Netravalkar, a standout performer and left-arm seamer during the tournament, will miss the Netherlands tour due to parental leave. Similarly, wicketkeeper-batter Andries Gous will also take parental leave during the ODI matches but is set to rejoin the team for the T20I fixtures.
Former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson has been dropped from the squad following a lackluster performance with the bat during the T20 World Cup. Additionally, left-arm spinning all-rounder Nisarg Patel, who did not feature in any matches throughout the World Cup, has also been excluded. This opens the door for wrist spinner Yasir Mohammad, who has previously played two T20Is for the USA, to make a return. Middle-order batter Milind Kumar has been omitted from the T20 squad but remains in the ODI team.
The 36-year-old Shadley Van Schalkwyk has been excluded from the T20 squad but has been included in the ODI setup for the first time. In contrast, promising young opener Sai Teja Mukkamalla has been selected for the T20I team, having previously established himself in the ODI squad. The selection of 17-year-old Utkarsh Srivastava, who replaces seasoned players like Sanjay Krishnamurthy and Ali Sheikh, has sparked some debate.
Former India Under-19 wicketkeeper-batter Smit Patel has been added to the ODI squad to fill in for Andries Gous. Meanwhile, Unmukt Chand’s wait for a spot in the national team continues, as he has once again been overlooked by the selectors.
