India’s star batsman Virat Kohli is currently in Sri Lanka, gearing up for the upcoming three-match ODI series set to kick off on August 2 in Colombo.
Recently, a video surfaced on social media where Kohli, engaged in shadow practice, was unexpectedly called ‘Chokli’ by someone nearby. The term, a blend of Kohli and ‘Choker’, is unfortunately used by trolls to criticize the player, particularly after less-than-expected performances in crucial matches. Kohli’s reaction in the video made it evident that he was displeased with the use of such derogatory language, firmly responding with a terse “Not here.”
However, subsequent to the initial uproar, another video has emerged clarifying the context. In this new footage, the individual initially referred to as using the term ‘Chokli’ is seen requesting Kohli for an autograph, to which the seasoned batsman politely declines with a simple “not here.”
The contrasting videos have sparked varied reactions among fans, highlighting the sometimes deceptive nature of social media clips and the need for context in interpreting such incidents.
Virat Kohli’s long-awaited comeback.
Virat Kohli is currently preparing to make his eagerly anticipated comeback to ODI cricket after a hiatus since the World Cup final last November. He sat out of the ODI series against South Africa in December, and India hasn’t played any ODIs since then.
Both Kohli and Team India are eager to perform well in the upcoming series. Following his retirement from T20Is after India’s World Cup victory, Kohli is set to shift focus to the 50-over format. He boasts an impressive track record against Sri Lanka in ODIs, having amassed 2595 runs in 25 matches against them, including 10 centuries.
