In a tense encounter, Bangladesh clinched a two-wicket victory over Sri Lanka at the Grand Prairie Stadium in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
Sri Lanka started strongly in their innings, reaching a promising 100/3 after 14 overs. However, a sudden collapse saw them slump to 124/9 by the end of their innings. Despite a commendable effort with the ball, extending the match to its conclusion, Bangladesh emerged victorious with one over remaining.
“We started well in the first 10 overs but in the middle overs, we batted badly. Bowling is our strength. If we had got 150-160 we could have won with our bowling attack. The batters let us down in both games,” Hasaranga said in a post-match presentation.
Sri Lanka’s captain expressed confidence in their bowling attack’s ability to defend a score between 150-160. However, he lamented the team’s batting performance, noting that the hitters have been letting down the bowlers. Sri Lanka’s struggles were evident as they could only manage a total of 77 runs against South Africa.
“We still have two games and we will try to do our best. Maheesh and I are the two main spinners and we have to attack,” he added.
