Earlier in the day, the Indian squad arrived at New Delhi’s IGI airport and had the privilege of meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in the capital city. Subsequently, in Mumbai, the players participated in a joyous victory parade that commenced at Marine Drive and culminated with festivities at Wankhede Stadium.
Led by captain Rohit Sharma, the team embarked on a celebratory lap around the stadium, followed by a special felicitation ceremony organized by the BCCI to recognize both players and support staff. Videos capturing the celebrations have swiftly circulated on social media, with a recent highlight featuring Virat Kohli alongside BCCI secretary Jay Shah gaining attention.
During the felicitation ceremony where the BCCI presented a cheque of Rs 125 crore to the victorious team, a notable incident occurred involving Virat Kohli and BCCI secretary Jay Shah. As each player, led by captain Rohit Sharma, approached the stage to shake hands with BCCI officials including president Roger Binny, vice-president Rajeev Shukla, and Shah, Kohli’s interaction with Shah stood out.
Upon shaking hands with Kohli, Shah appeared captivated by the batting icon, momentarily lost in admiration as Kohli moved on. Shah’s apparent fascination with Kohli led to a light-hearted moment when he momentarily overlooked greeting India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who had approached him next.
