KL Rahul playfully poked fun at his teammate Shubman Gill during a training session ahead of the crucial third ODI against Sri Lanka.
With the final ODI between India and Sri Lanka set for Wednesday (August 7) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the Indian team is under pressure to secure a win to avoid a series defeat. Despite the high stakes, the team’s morale remains positive.
The light-hearted moment occurred when KL Rahul humorously imitated Gill’s running style as the young batter made his way onto the field. India’s tour of Sri Lanka so far
The tour of Sri Lanka marked a new chapter for Indian cricket, as it was the first assignment for the team under new captain Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir. The Men in Blue kicked off this fresh era with a remarkable performance, sweeping the three-match T20I series.
India won the opening T20I by 43 runs, followed by a 7-wicket victory (DLS method) in the second game to secure the series. They then wrapped up the T20Is with a thrilling Super Over win in the third match.
However, the ODI series has presented a different challenge. In spin-friendly conditions, India’s batters have struggled. Aside from captain Rohit Sharma, who is the series’ top run-scorer, no other Indian batter has made a significant impact. The first ODI ended in a tie as India fell short by one run while chasing 231, managing only 230 runs.
In the second ODI, India was all out for 208 in their pursuit of 241 runs. The team will aim to level the series in the upcoming third ODI, which will conclude their tour of Sri Lanka. India will next be seen in action when they host Bangladesh next month.
