Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has made a comeback to Bengal cricket after a two-season stint with Tripura, which followed a disagreement with officials from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Saha is keen to make a substantial impact in all three formats of the game for Bengal in the forthcoming domestic season.
During a press conference at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Saha shared his excitement about rejoining Bengal and reaffirmed his dedication to delivering his best performance on the field. His return is set to bring a wealth of experience and expertise, enhancing the Bengal team’s capabilities for the season ahead.

The event was also attended by Snehasish Ganguly, president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), and Naresh Ojha, the secretary. They warmly welcomed Wriddhiman Saha back to the team, praising his past contributions and expressing optimism that his return would significantly bolster the Bengal squad.
Ganguly was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz: “It is a matter of great joy to welcome Wriddhi back in Bengal. He has served us a lot in the past. I hope his return will strengthen the team, and Bengal will aim for a better performance in the upcoming season. I wish Wriddi the very best for the forthcoming season.”
Wriddhiman Saha remarked that the Bengal team now boasts a blend of youthful talent and veteran experience, which he believes will be crucial in developing a robust and competitive squad. Expressing his enthusiasm about returning to the Bengal team, Saha emphasized that they are focusing on incremental progress and diligent preparation for the season, rather than setting their sights too far into the future.
Saha said during a press meet in Kolkata: “I am happy and excited to be back in Bengal. I am looking forward to playing and giving my best for the state. As of now, my plan is to play in all three formats for Bengal, and it will depend on how things go ahead in the season.”

On the topic of his age and future in cricket, Saha remarked that he views age as merely a number. He expressed that he remains highly motivated and has no current intention of retiring from the sport. The Indian wicketkeeper clarified that he will step away from all formats only when he feels it is the right moment to do so.
He further said on his retirement from the game: “Age is just a number for me. As long as I am motivated to play this game, I will continue playing. I have no plans of retirement as of now. As and when I think of quitting the game, I will retire from all formats of the game.”
Discussing his role alongside Bengal’s young wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel, Saha expressed his readiness to support the team and assist in nurturing emerging talents. He emphasized his willingness to do whatever is best for the team and to aid in the development of promising players like Porel.
Saha signed off by saying, “I will do anything possible for the betterment of the team. I will always be a team man, and I am ready to do what is best for the team and also, help prolong the cricketing career of a talented player like Abishek.”
