Ahead of the two-Test series, Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach, Andre Adams, has issued a strong message to Pakistan, asserting that there’s no reason Bangladesh can’t make history despite past struggles and a poor record in Pakistan. Adams emphasized that success in the Test series hinges on addressing two key challenges: scoring enough runs and implementing effective bowling strategies. He highlighted a renewed optimism within the Bangladesh team about their chances on the Pakistan tour.
Bangladesh coach Andre Adams sends warning to Pakistan ahead of Test series
Andre Adams, Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach, underscored the crucial role of batting resilience and adaptability to difficult conditions, particularly on flat pitches where scoring runs is essential. He expressed confidence in Bangladesh’s batting lineup, noting their determination to perform well under pressure.
Adams cautioned that without accumulating sufficient runs, Bangladesh would struggle to secure victories in the upcoming Test series against Pakistan, which begins on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
Acknowledging the significant challenge ahead, Adams believes that with proper preparation and the right mindset, Bangladesh can overcome their historical difficulties in Pakistan and demonstrate their capability in Test cricket.
As the Tigers look to change their history of poor performances in Pakistan, Adams emphasized that despite their lower ranking, they have the potential to succeed. He also warned Pakistan not to underestimate Bangladesh due to their past record, asserting that the team is motivated to break their losing streak and make a mark on the tour.
I think we have great chances to win Test series in Pakistan: Andre Adams
Andre Adams was quoted as saying by The Daily Star: “Yes, I think we have great chances. The biggest challenge in Tests is whether you can put both innings together. It’s very difficult to win matches if you don’t score enough runs. Unfortunately, for the batters, it always comes down to whether they can actually put runs on the board so that the bowlers have a chance to defend it.”
However, the Bangladesh coach said that this is a challenge for both sides, saying if you don’t bowl well and bat well, you can’t win matches in Test cricket. Adams stressed that they have to put up enough runs on the board to win the matches in Pakistan, but said that Bangladeshi batters have now got more determination and understanding of playing Test cricket.
Adams signed off by saying, “When you are going to play on a flat wicket, you have to score runs. It’s going to be a huge challenge. They are ranked above us in Test cricket. We just need to do well in these aspects. You just need to be prepared to play the long game. But there’s actually no reason why this group of batters can’t score runs. No reason as well for the bowlers why they can’t take all the wickets. Just because we haven’t done it yet doesn’t mean we can’t.”
