Indian captain Shubman Gill and his teammates Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan, and Washington Sundar showered praise on Ravi Bishnoi for his exceptional fielding display during India’s 23-run victory over Zimbabwe in the third T20I in Harare on July 10. This win gave India a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series.
Bishnoi, the young Indian spinner, stole the spotlight with a breathtaking catch in the match. In the fourth over, fielding at backward point, Bishnoi leapt into action to dismiss Brian Bennett off Avesh Khan’s bowling. Bennett had fiercely cut a short delivery towards the deep point boundary, but Bishnoi had other plans. With stunning agility, he soared through the air, clasping the ball with both hands before landing safely on the ground.
This sensational catch drew immediate comparisons to India’s legendary fielder, Yuvraj Singh. Bishnoi’s teammates were quick to congratulate him, equally astonished by his remarkable athleticism on the field, which left Bennett visibly stunned during the third T20I encounter.

After the match, the BCCI posted a video on X featuring Avesh, Rinku, Sundar, and Gill showering accolades on Bishnoi for his outstanding catch. Avesh, in a jovial mood, quipped that he was merely trying to make life easier for his bowlers by taking wickets when asked about his strategy for the ongoing five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe by Bishnoi.
Meanwhile, Bishnoi remained humble about his contribution to the Indian cricket team, expressing satisfaction at taking the spectacular catch. He mentioned that the team had been focusing on fielding improvements for the past 2-3 days, so his effort was a natural outcome of that practice. He also humorously remarked that catching such deliveries off Avesh’s bowling wasn’t a new experience for him, implying it had become a regular occurrence.

Avesh Khan: He caught such a catch that he didn’t get a reaction time, and we didn’t get a reaction time. We were also shocked that he caught such a wonderful catch. He is a very good fielder. He always works hard on his fielding. Today’s catch is my wicket, but it should go into his account.”
Rinku Singh: It was a very outstanding catch. It’s not the first time that he has made such a catch. He has made a lot of catches in international and IPL matches.
Washington Sundar: First of all, it was a great opportunity for me to stand in mid-on and have a clear view of whatever happened throughout the catch and throughout that particular ball. It went at rocket speed, and Bishnoi was fabulous there. Double rocket speed was there.
Shubman Gill: Firstly, I’m very happy with the team’s win, going 2-1 up in the T20I series. The catch that Bishnoi took was absolutely remarkable. Cricket is definitely a team sport, and it’s more so a team sport when you are fielding. So, it’s very important to have fun when you are fielding. If you are having fun, then you are always in the game.
