Shortly following Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s decisions to retire from T20Is, Ravindra Jadeja also declared his departure from the shortest format of cricket. Renowned as one of the premier fielders globally, Jadeja affirmed his commitment to continuing his career in ODIs and Tests.

“With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats,” the 35-year-old wrote on Instagram underneath a picture of him holding the trophy.

“Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support. Jai hind,” he added.

Since his debut in T20Is against Sri Lanka in 2009, he featured in 74 matches, contributing with 515 runs and claiming 54 wickets. Meanwhile, Jadeja’s IPL team shared a touching tribute to mark his retirement from T20 internationals.

“A career nothing short of legendary! Thank you for inspiring millions and leaving a legacy in T20 Internationals that will endure forever, Jaddu,” the caption of the post read.

“The Greatest there ever was! The Greatest there ever is! The greatest there ever will be! #ThalapathyForever,” CSK wrote in another post.

In the T20 World Cup final in Barbados on Saturday, India secured their second title in the tournament’s history by defeating South Africa by seven runs. Following the victory, Rohit and Kohli announced their retirement from the format.

Jadeja, a stalwart of Indian cricket for over fifteen years, did not exhibit his best form in the recently concluded World Cup.
