Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian spinner, took a dig at Michael Vaughan, the former England captain, following India’s qualification for the T20 World Cup 2023 final.

India secured a comprehensive victory over England in the second semi-final. They posted a competitive total of 171/7 in their 20 overs, propelled by Rohit Sharma’s 57, Suryakumar Yadav’s 47, and quick contributions from Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

In the bowling department, India’s spinners played a crucial role, taking wickets consistently. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav claimed three wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah picked up two, dismantling the England batting lineup and restricting them to just 103 runs. Unlike during India’s batting innings, there were no rain interruptions in England’s innings, and the dry pitch conditions favored India’s spinners who excelled under these conditions.

Michael Vaughan commends Team India following their qualification for the T20 World Cup final.

In a tweet, Michael Vaughan praised the Indian team, stating that India thoroughly deserved to reach the final. The best team in tournament so far .. Was always going to hard for England on this pitch .. India just so much better on lower slower spinning pitches .. #T20IWorldCup.”

Earlier, Michael Vaughan had commented on Team India, suggesting that their knowledge of the semi-final venue might have provided them with a slight advantage in the match.

He expressed his frustration on X during the first semi-final between South Africa and Afghanistan. “Surely this Semi should have been the Guyana one… but because the whole event is geared towards India it’s so unfair on others… #T20IWorldCup,” Vaughan wrote on his X

“If England had beaten SA they would have got the Trinidad semi and I believe they would have won that game .. So no complaints they haven’t been good enough .. But Guyana has been a lovely venue pick for India”

Harbhajan Singh and Michael Vaughan engaged in a Twitter spat.

“What makes you think Guyana was a good venue for India ? Both Teams played on the same venue. England won the toss that was an advantage. Stop being silly. England was outplayed by India in all departments. Accept the fact and move on and keep your rubbish with yourself. Talk logic not nonsense,” Harbhajan wrote.

India has secured their first T20 World Cup final since 2014, when they were defeated by Sri Lanka. This time, they will challenge a formidable South African team that remains unbeaten and in top form throughout the tournament. Regrettably, only one of these teams’ unbeaten streaks will conclude in the final. What adds intrigue is that the victor will achieve a first in T20 World Cup history by finishing the tournament without a single defeat.
