Former Indian allrounder Irfan Pathan has addressed a recent controversy involving a Pakistani fan and former Indian offspinner Harbhajan Singh. Pathan responded sharply, criticizing the fan and accusing them of posting inflammatory content to boost their social media visibility.
The controversy began when a Pakistani fan shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing Babar Azam walking behind the boundary ropes after an ODI World Cup 2023 match. The fan’s X post claimed that Babar Azam had declined to give an interview to Irfan Pathan, even though Pathan was not seen in the video.
A Pakistani fan account attempted to defame Irfan Pathan.
“When @IrfanPathan begs to Babar Azam for Interview and he refused ππ΅π°πͺπ»,” the user posted on X
Harbhajan Singh delivered a sharp rebuttal to the user.
Former Indian offspinner Harbhajan Singh responded forcefully to the post, sharply criticizing the user for attempting to tarnish Irfan Pathan’s reputation.
“Where is @IrfanPathan in this video ?? Bolne ki tameez to aap logo ko pehle hi nahi thi . Ab aankho se dikhna bi bandh ho gya kya? Waise bi agar angreji mai swal pooch liya to pange pad jayenge (You didn’t have the etiquettes to speak earlier as well. Now you can’t even see through your eyes. Anyways, you will be in trouble if I ask you something in English),” Harbhajan replied to the user on X.
Irfan Pathan tears into a Pakistani user.
In the meantime, Irfan Pathan has also weighed in on the matter. In response to Harbhajan’s post, Pathan suggested that these individuals are merely seeking to gain more attention on social media. He further advised his former teammate to disregard such users.
“Inko jhoot bolke REACH chahiye. Ignore maaro Paaji @harbhajan_singh,” Irfan Pathan posted on X while replying to Harbhajan Singh’s post.
Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh were two of Indiaβs most prominent stars during their careers. They were integral members of the Indian squad that clinched the first-ever T20 World Cup in 2007.
Recently, both Pathan and Harbhajan competed in the World Championship of Legends 2024, held in England last month. They played crucial roles in leading India to victory in the tournament, securing the title by defeating Pakistan in the final by 5 wickets.
