Gautam Gambhir is set to kick off his tenure as India’s head coach with a series of white-ball clashes against Sri Lanka. The upcoming tour, commencing from July 27, will feature three T20Is and three ODIs. Gambhir, whose coaching prowess shone brightly during successful stints with IPL franchises Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders, where he notably guided the latter to their third championship title earlier this year, was the natural choice to succeed Rahul Dravid in this prestigious role.
Legendary India all-rounder Kapil Dev has extended his best wishes to Gambhir, expressing optimism that under his guidance, the team will elevate their performance to new heights.
“If Gautam Gambhir is taking that position (of head coach of Indian cricket team), I wish good luck to him and the team. I hope they do better than what we have done previously. I want to wish the Indian players all the best,” Kapil was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
