Young Indian all-rounder Riyan Parag sparked a buzz across social media with his bold comments about Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Parag expressed his eagerness to silence the RCB crowd in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).

During IPL 2024, Riyan Parag showcased his batting prowess, accumulating 573 runs for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 15 matches at an impressive strike rate nearing 150. He crafted four half-centuries, with his highest score being an unbeaten 84. His stellar performance earned him a maiden call-up to the Indian national team.

In other developments, young opener Shubman Gill was appointed captain of India’s second-string squad for the upcoming five-match series against Zimbabwe. Reports indicate that both Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag are set to make their international debuts, with Parag likely to feature at number four in the batting order.

They’ve Just A Big Fan Base – Riyan Parag

In a widely circulated video, Riyan Parag was queried about his preferred opponent in the IPL. Without hesitation, he singled out Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), expressing a particular thrill in facing them. Parag candidly mentioned the satisfaction he derived from quieting down RCB’s fervent fan base, reflecting on their memorable encounter in the IPL 2024 “Eliminator” match.

“Which IPL team do you love to play against?” the anchor asked.

“RCB. They’ve just a big fan base. Wherever we go, they’ve got a bigger fan base, and it’s always nice to quiet down the crowd and everyone. Even in the qualifier that we played, literally, out of 80,000 people, 70,000 of them were RCB fans. We won the game, and everything was quiet. I love that,” Parag said.

Riyan Parag burst onto the IPL scene in 2019 with promising performances, amassing 160 runs at an average of 32 and a strike rate of 126.98. However, his form faltered in the following season, where he managed only 86 runs in 12 matches at a modest average of 12.28. The young batter faced criticism during this period until his impressive resurgence in the recent IPL season.

Rajasthan Royals emerged victorious against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2024 Eliminator.

Rajasthan Royals clinched a thrilling victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore by four wickets in the IPL 2024 Eliminator held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, known for its record seating capacity. Led by Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals advanced to Qualifier 2, while Royal Challengers Bangalore bid farewell to the tournament.

Royal Challengers Bangalore had a rocky start to IPL 2024, suffering seven losses in their initial eight matches. However, they staged an impressive comeback with six consecutive victories to secure a spot in the playoffs. Unfortunately, their campaign came to an end after Rajasthan Royals defeated them in the crucial knockout encounter.

Chasing a target of 173 runs, Rajasthan Royals reached the milestone with four overs and six balls to spare. Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 45 runs, supported by Riyan Parag with 36 runs. The partnership between Parag and Shimron Hetmyer (26) proved pivotal, and Rovman Powell sealed the victory with a six off Lockie Ferguson.
