Virat Kohli’s struggles with the bat continued in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 as he was dismissed for a duck during India’s crucial Super 8 match against Australia.

India, having won their first two Super 8 games, faced a critical encounter after Australia chose to bowl first. The team relied heavily on a strong start from Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Unfortunately, Kohli failed to score yet again, marking his second duck of the tournament following his earlier dismissal against the USA.

In the second over of the innings, Josh Hazlewood dismissed Kohli with a well-directed short ball. Attempting a pull shot, Kohli mistimed the ball, resulting in a top-edge caught by Tim David at wide mid-on. This latest setback has added to Kohli’s disappointing campaign in the T20 World Cup, reflecting his struggle to find form.

Virat Kohli continues to struggle in the tournament, failing to surpass 40 runs in six innings. In the group stage, he managed just 5 runs across three matches, scoring 1, 4, and 0. While he showed promise in the first two Super 8 games with scores of 24 and 37 against Afghanistan and Bangladesh respectively, he couldn’t convert those starts into substantial innings.

Following his dismissal against Australia, disappointed fans swiftly criticized Kohli for his ongoing poor form.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing match in St Lucia, India reached 43 for 1 in the 5th over before rain halted play. Rohit Sharma, in contrast to Kohli, has been in exceptional form, contributing 41 runs off just 14 balls, including two boundaries and five sixes out of India’s total score so far.
