Former India batsman Dinesh Karthik recently weighed in on the possibility of Virat Kohli matching Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries in international cricket.
Karthik highlighted Kohli’s exceptional career, noting his unparalleled consistency across all formats, which places him among the finest batsmen of his generation. When asked about Kohli’s prospects of reaching the milestone of 100 international centuries, Karthik expressed optimism. Despite Kohli currently needing 20 more centuries to achieve this feat, Karthik believes that with approximately four more years of playing time, including a potential appearance at the 2027 ODI World Cup, Kohli stands a great chance of achieving this historic milestone.
“He’s got 80 so far. So 20 more to go, which means at least four years. He’s going to play in the next World Cup I’m sure. So there is a great chance he will do it. Why not?” Dinesh Karthik said on Cricbuzz.
To date, Virat Kohli has amassed 80 centuries across 530 matches in international cricket, a milestone achieved previously only by Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli joined this exclusive club last year during a World Cup match against Sri Lanka in Mumbai, where he also marked his 50th century in ODIs, surpassing Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in the 50-over format. Among his remarkable tally, Kohli has scored 29 centuries in Test matches and one in T20Is.
